PUBLISHED: 13:59 05 June 2013 | UPDATED: 14:55 05 June 2013

Trains have started to run through Ilford again after the Liverpool Street to Shenfield overground line was re-opened.

All services were stopped earlier after a person was hit by a train at Manor Park station.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene around 1.15pm but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesman said the death is being treated as “non-suspicious”.

She added: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the person’s identity and inform their family.”

While the incident was being investigated, no trains ran in either direction from Ilford, Seven Kings, Goodmayes and Chadwell Heath stations.

Operator Greater Anglia said services are still subject to delays, routes changes and cancellations.

Tickets are being accepted on buses on all reasonable routes.
