The sun came out for Kenneth More audience members after reality star James “Arg” Argent appeared in their production of Annie.

The 26-year-old cheeky star of ITV2’s The Only Way is Essex, was at the Kenneth More Theatre, of Oakfield Road, Ilford, last week when he made a cameo appearance as radio star Bert Healey, in their adaptation of 80s musical Annie.

Theatre manager, Steven Day, said: “I was delighted that he wanted to get involved, as it was a great boost for the show and great exposure for us as we begin our 40th Anniversary celebrations.”

Arg, an original member of The Only Way is Essex cast, joined the Kenneth More Theatre when he was just 10-years-old, taking on iconic roles such as the Artful Dodger in Oliver Twist and David Copperfield.

Mum of the Towie star, Pat Argent, said: He has always loved performing and being part of a big production so the fact he could express his need to perform was lovely.”

So when theatre manager Steven offered him the role of Bert Healey in their latest show, Arg leaped at the chance.

Steven said: “James has wanted to get involved with a production for a while and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to make it happen. He was able to fit it around his work commitments and so everything just fell into place.”

Arg appeared alongside star of the show 10-year-old Rachel Masters, of Wanstead Lane, Ilford, who played the lovable curly red headed orphan Annie.

Steven said: “James has a ‘likeability’ on stage. He may not be the most amazing actor but you can’t help but like him.

“I know he would love to appear in other shows, but currently his TV work has to come first but hopefully we will get him back at the Kenneth More Theatre soon!”
