THE 47-hour fire strike due to start today has been called off after last ditch talks between union leaders and fire brigade chiefs.
It has been reported that the Fire Brigade Union put forward a plan which it said would enable the strike, due to start today at 10am and run until 9am on Sunday, to be avoided.
