A 10-year-old former Recorder Young Citizen spent 24 hours reading Shakespeare aloud to raise money for charity.

Destiny Dalby, of Great Owl Road, Chigwell, has lived with a serious fish and nut allergy since she was three years old and regularly fundraises for the Anaphylaxis Campaign.

And while most children would take some convincing to read The Bard’s works for more than a few minutes, she happily made her way through 14 children’s versions of his plays.

She said: “Othello was my favourite.

“It’s a new one I hadn’t read before and it has a really complicated story.

“I really like Shakespeare, it’s interesting.”

Accounting for breaks to eat and sleep, the youngster spent a full day in total reading the books between Wednesday and Thursday (December 19 and 20).

She said she would do it again.

“There’s more books I haven’t read,” she said.
