Three people are thought to have escaped a fire which broke out at a terraced house in Oakwood Gardens, Seven Kings, and filled the street with black smoke.
Twenty-five firefighters, who were called to the scene at 2.30pm this afternoon, had the fire under control within an hour.
Neighbour, Hardeep Boparai, who was alerted to the fire by his wife, said: “There was smoke everywhere and at first I thought it was my house. There was a black cloud which went to the end of the street.
“It [the fire] started at the top but there weren’t any flames so it must have been building up under the roof tiles.”
Four fire engines and an aerial ladder attended the fire.
Station manager, Richard Knighton, added: “Due to the efficiency of the firemen, the fire was brought under control in less than an hour. The road is shut off by police while operations continue. The cause is under investigation.”
