Carpentry tools worth thousands of pounds were stolen from a van in Goodmayes.
A chop saw, impact screw driver, cordless hammer drill, jig saw and red Henry Hoover were all taken.
The white Peugeot boxer van was parked and locked overnight in Little Heath on Sunday.
When the owner returned to the van the next morning at about 10.30am he discovered the tools, worth about £2,000, had been taken.
