Two men were seen filling their car “to the brim” with charity donations from a supermarket charity bin.

A passer-by spotted the theft of clothes from the recycling area at Sainsbury’s, in King George Avenue, Newbury Park, on July 6.

The donations are resold by Oxfam in its shops and online. Items that cannot be sold are recycled or exported to fund overseas charity projects.

As reported by the Recorder in May, thieves are also known to target bags of clothes, toys and bric-a-brac left by well-wishers overnight outside charity shops.

Branches of the PDSA, Sue Ryder Cancer Care, Children’s Society and Cancer Research across Redbridge have all fallen victim.

Taking donations from outside charity shops or recycling bins is considered a criminal offence by police.
