Archant

A teenager was stabbed after a fight allegedly broke out over a motorbike in a residential street on Tuesday.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman confirmed officers were called at 2.16pm to reports of an assault in Dawlish Drive, Goodmayes.

She said: “Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a 19-year-old man suffering from stab injuries.

“He was taken to an east London hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.”

An eyewitness told the Recorder she had been driving down Goodmayes Lane when a woman in tears ran into the road from the junction with Dawlish Drive.

When the witness stopped to help, she claimed a group of young men, who had all been on motorcycles themselves, began attacking another man who was confronting the group as he believed one of the motorbikes they were riding was stolen.

No arrests have been made.

Inquiries continue.
