A 19-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving, after his car careered off the road and collided with a tree on Westerham Road, Keston in the early hours of Tuesday, seriously injuring one of the passengers.

The driver and two other males suffered minor injuries while a 20-year-old female from Lewisham, who was in the backseat of the grey Fiat Punto, was taken to King’s College Hospital with life threatening injuries to her head and pelvis.

She remains in hospital and her condition is said to be stable.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, driving without insurance and a licence, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The case has been bailed until June 5.
