Redbridge College turned green, white and gold for St Patrick’s Day.

Trainee chef Mariella Creegan put on a special event to celebrate the saint’s day on Thursday.

Level 3 chefs at the college run their own events at the college’s Rouge Restaurant at its Little Heath campus on Thursday nights.

Mariella served up a selection of traditional Irish dishes for the sell-out event.

She said: “I always struggled at school but didn’t get the support I needed, so after being diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalcius my mum home-schooled me until Connections helped me to get a place at Redbridge College.

“I was only 14 but they started me on entry level and gave me the support I had needed for so many years. It was a breath of fresh air to be accepted and guided.

“I had already decided I wanted to become a chef so each year I worked my way up. The college also helps with one-to-one support if needed and I do maths and English as well.

“I am very proud to say I made it to Level 3 and it is a very busy and exciting year.

“We cater for various private events, take part in competitions and supervise the Level 1s and 2s, giving us fantastic experience for the world of work.”
