LONG tailbacks are being reported after the traffic lights at Gants Hill roundabout suffered a technical malfunction this morning.

The lights, which were switched on for the first time earlier this month as part of a multi-million pound transformation of the area, are not running to “full capacity” according to Transport for London.

It means the traffic lights are being controlled by pre set timers rather than according to expected traffic flows during different times of the day.

Engineers have been called to get the lights fully back up and running as drivers travelling through the roundabout along Eastern Avenue, Woodford Avenue and Cranbrook Road, try to thread their way past the delays.
