Revellers turned out in force to wave farewell to the hugely popular Music in Wanstead Park festival on Saturday.

The annual event, which has been running for 17 years, returned for the last time to Wanstead Park, Northumberland Avenue, Wanstead.

Acts including Wanstead High School’s funk soul band, The Switches, The Kippers, London School of Samba and the Sea Foxes entertained the crowds throughout the day, with Grooveability headlining in the evening.

Organiser Gill James, of the Aldersbrook Family Association (AFA), told the Recorder ahead of the event it would be the “end of an era”.

“It has been lovely to have an event that brings the whole of the community together in a beautiful place,” she said.
