A department at New City College – Redbridge has been nominated for a teaching award.
The catering and hospitality team at Little Heath, Barley Lane, will find out if they have won a Pearson Teaching Award at a ceremony in Canary Warf on Sunday.
The prize recognises the “life-changing impact” teachers have on their students and Pearson UK’s president, Rod Bristow, believes “teachers deserve all the support we can give them”.
“Great teaching improves the life chances of our children,” he said.
“It’s an incredibly tough, pressured and wearing job.
“That’s why these Pearson teaching awards are important, and that’s why I’m delighted once again to lend our support to giving teaching the recognition it deserves.”
The ceremony will be broadcasted on TV on October 29th as part of BBC TWO’s annual “Britain’s Classroom Heroes”
The show celebrates the best of the UK’s teaching profession and the ceremony will be hosted by BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty and Countryfile’s Sean Fletcher.
