Woodford 39 Colchester 19

WOODFORD under-15s finally gained revenge over their counterparts from Colchester at the weekend.

Having lost to Colchester twice in the last two seasons, Woodford attacked from the start and scored a quick try when Cameron Dutch crashed over.

Will Cooper-Rendu then finished off a great forward drive as Woodford were dominant, particularly with David Hutchinson winning the line-outs.

A third try soon followed when Ashley Somers went over, and it was 25-0 at half time, as Chesley Fagan and Somers both touched down.

After the break, Colchester hit back with two quick tries, but Cooper-Rendu barrelled his way over to keep them at arms length.

The visitors did score again, but Woodford then turned on the gas as Somers grabbed his hat-trick, while Alex Pope and James Piras managed two conversions.

A DEPLETED Woodford B side showed their strength in depth with this win over Burnham A.

The result had looked bleak when Woodford went 12-0 down, but they refused to give up and levelled at 12-12.

A great try from Jamal Crawford put his side ahead, but Burnham fought back to make the scores 19-19.

Woodford were not to be denied though and ran in two more tries to ensure they picked up the victory.
