A scene depicting mist swirling across a lake was the winning entry at the Woodford and Wanstead Photographic Society’s monthly contest.

David Tyrrell beat off competition from other members of the group to be awarded first place, although he originally set out to capture deer in Richmond Park.

“I arrived at 7am for when for the park opened and there was early morning mist which was already beginning to clear,” he said.

“I was lucky enough to get the shot before it disappeared completely – I’m thrilled to have won.”

Wanstead photographer, Geoff Wilkinson, judged the competition and said his job was not an easy one.

“The club has some excellent photographers and the photos I had to judge were of a very high standard,” he said.

“David’s shot of the lake with early morning mist was beautifully composed and printed.

“As a result, he captured the stillness and peacefulness of this wonderful park perfectly.”

The Woodford and Wanstead Photographic Society welcomes new members and hold meetings at Wanstead House, The Green, Wanstead.
