Shoppers have been evacuated from The Exchange Ilford shopping centre.
Hundreds of people were moved out of the building, in High Road, after alarms sounded at around 11.15am.
A member of staff said the evacuation was part of a “planned fire drill”.
Customers have now been allowed back inside the shopping centre.
