There are severe delays on the Central line after a reported fire at Holborn station, in the West End.

Panicked passengers said they heard a loud bang, and then smoke filled the platforms.

The Central line has now closed the station and there are severe delays along the whole line, which serves Redbridge through to Woodford and Hainault.

There are no trains running between Liverpool Street and Marble Arch.

The London Fire Brigade have said they were called at 9.09am, and ten firefighters are investigating.

A member of staff outside the station said it was due to a problem with the train.
