Police have charged a fifth man in connection with the suspected murder of Sandel Serbu in Ilford.

Araman Nardi-Stoica – also known as Nardi Gladiatoru – is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates court today charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

The 24-year-old was arrested in Oldham on Monday (April 23) following an investigation by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command into the death of Sandel on November 12 last year.

Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service to reports of a fight and an injured man at the High Road junction with Connaught Road, Ilford, at 2.48am.

They found Sandel 36, a Romanian national who was living in Barking and was also known by the nicknames Sorin and Braileanu, suffering from serious injuries.

He was taken by ambulance to an east London hospital, where he died at 4.35am.
