The headteacher of a Seven Kings school met the prime minister at a Downing Street soiree last week.

Nicola Percy is headteacher of Aldborough E-ACT Free School, which is one of the first free schools in the UK.

Prime minister David Cameron and the secretary of state for education, Michael Gove, invited principals, school workers and sponsors to celebrate free schools at the event.

Mrs Percy said she was “honoured” to be invited.

She added: “I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet with not only the prime minister and government ministers but also with a wonderful group of other headteachers from all over the country.

“Many are doing fantastic work offering a range of opportunities for different faiths and specialisms at their schools.”

Opened in September 2011, Aldborough E-ACT Free School, in Aldborough Road South, caters for children from the ages of five to seven.
