Doing your shopping in a busy supermarket with young children can be a nightmare – groceries pile up and toddlers just scream and scream.

That’s why mum-of-two Fateha ‘Tia’ Chowdhury invented the EcoPram, a unique stroller with special storage space which rocks babies to sleep.

Tia, of Westwood Road, Seven Kings, first came up with the idea seven years ago, shortly after giving birth to her sons Deen and Miraj.

The 38-year-old found it very hard storing her weekly food shop with a baby in a pram.

She told the Recorder: “I’d come home after doing shopping and think I’ve got to do something about this.”

Tia’s patented three ideas which make the EcoPram unique.

“It has a large storage area – the EcoBasket – which is can take 15kg at a easy height for the parent to reach.

“When my sons were young I noticed rocking often put them to sleep, so I added an automated swing seat to easily relax the baby.”

Tia also found Deen and Miraj would hit the bumper bar in front of them, so she installed a toy to keep them entertained while she was wheeling around Tesco or Sainsbury’s.

The EcoPram website went live last week, seven years after the idea first germinated in Tia’s head, and this journey has not always been easy.

“There’s been lots of tears, my former husband was not very supportive, I left it for eight months but I kept coming back.”

After close calls with department store John Lewis and BBC show Dragon’s Den, Tia is on the look out for investors.

She firmly believes in her product: “It could be helpful for every parent out there.”
