You won’t be able to bank upon seeing the same businesses on Wanstead High Street come November.

Santander will be closing its’ doors after reviewing footfall and changing customer usage.

A company spokesman said the decision was not taken lightly.

“Wanstead branch will be closing in November 2017 and follows a strategic review looking across our UK branch network at changing customer behaviour, branch and digital channel usage, and alternative ways for our customers to bank with us, whilst supporting local communities,” she said.

“Santander is committed to ensuring we provide a good level of service that meets the changing needs of our customers. In order to do this we continually review our branch network, and sometimes need to make difficult decisions over our less utilised branches.”

The bank will be offering staff alternative roles in the surrounding area.

The nearest other Santander branch is on High Road, Leytonstone or customers can use online, mobile or telephone Banking.

All Santander current account holders can also use the Post Office for deposits, withdrawals and balance checks.
