Santa Claus made an appearance in Barkingside after telecoms employees gave up their time for a charity shop.

Children got the chance to meet the man in red after BT Business employees helped raise money for disability charity Scope at its shop in High Street, Barkingside.

The group gave away sweets and mince pies, doing its bit to keep children and their parents in the shop to get them spending more money.

Event organiser Gemma Dean said: “It was really good to do something for the kids and anything we can do to boost their income is definitely a good thing.”

Gemma and her team managed to raise more than £250.

She said: “It’s a fantastic charity and the only funding they get is through donations.”
