Supermarket workers thanked their lucky stars as they got the chance to soak their boss in the name of charity.

Gareth Powell, store manager at Sainsbury’s, High Road, Chadwell Heath faced a barrage of wet sponges as he was locked inside a cage to raise money for Sport Relief.

The soaking was just one of a number of events the store put on throughout the week to help raise money, which also included putting a member of staff in a bath of beans.
