A group of Ilford scouts will be able to enjoy the great outdoors a little longer thanks to a donation from a supermarket.
Customers at Sainsbury’s in Tanners Lane, Barkingside, put £500 into an in-store charity box for the 8th Ilford North Scout Group – and on July 16, staff turned up to the St Augustine‘s hall in Cranbrook Road to present a cheque.
Elaine Paris-Eley, the store’s HR manager, said: “We at Barkingside are proud to help the local community wherever we can. We are happy we can now donate £500, which I understand will be going towards PE equipment to enable the children to have outdoor activities throughout the year.”
Beaver group leader Kate Kennedy said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this donation given by the customers and colleagues of Sainsbury’s Barkingside.”
