Rogue landlords in Redbridge will be named and shamed

Redbridge Council has signed up to a London wide database to alert residents to corrupt landlords.

Along with 32 other boroughs, the local authority has agreed to join in with the Mayor of London’s Rogue Landlords and Letting Agents Checker.

As part of the scheme, the council will regularly submit records of successful prosecutions and fines and the public will be able to view them for free, report rogue landlords and check if a landlord or letting agent has been convicted of any housing offences.

Councillor Farah Hussain, cabinet member for housing and homelessness, said: “We are determined to clamp down on rogue landlords and this public database will help us to do just that.

“It will provide valuable information to people seeking private rented accommodation in our borough and across

London and help to discourage dishonest landlords and make them more responsible.”
