The River Roding is still on flood alert for the seventh day in a row but the Environment Agency said water levels are “falling slowly”.
The lower part of the river, which runs through Redbridge, Woodford, Wanstead, Ilford, East Ham and Barking has risen above its banks in some low-lying areas.
The Environment Agency has put the area on its lowest warning, a flood alert, meaning “flooding is possible, be prepared” and is monitoring the situation closely.
Flooding of low-lying land, roads and gardens and surface water is expected along with heavy rain through parts of today.
