The results of the parking consultation in Wanstead will not be released by Redbridge Council until after the general election, due to reporting restrictions.

The consultation into pay and display parking in the High Street, and residents permits for neighbouring roads, closed on May 5.

The council had intended to publish the results this month, but this has had to be delayed due to the snap general election.

In six weeks before an election, local government is in purdah, which means it cannot publish documents on political issues.

A council spokeswoman commented: “The Wanstead parking consultation has generated a wide range of differing opinions so we will not be publishing the results or any decision on the way forward until after the general election. Thank you again to everyone who contributed to the consultation, your views are important to us and they will be taken on board before a decision is made on the best way to proceed.”
