A public meeting is being held tonight over the future of Barkingside Post Office, which could be closed and moved into a shop within months.
The Post Office wants the branch, in High Street, to be franchised by the end of the financial year to save money.
Residents will get the chance to have their say about the plans at the meeting, which Post Office representatives are due to attend.
The company said it has not yet found a franchise partner and will consult customers before a deal is made.
If no retail partner is found, the branch will not be closed.
The Communication Workers’ Union (CWU) has staged 11 rounds of strike action in just five months over the franchise plans and ongoing disputes about jobs and pay.
Union representative Garrie Bond said workers fear franchising the branch would mean pay cuts, job losses and falling standards.
CWU representatives and Unite members will also be at the meeting at Fullwell Cross Library, High Street, Barkingside, from 6.30-8.30pm.
