People in their hundreds took to social media, after it was announced that The Valentine pub will close.

The establishment at Perth Road, Gants Hill has been pulling pints and hosting fun nights out since 1930.

Parmveer Singh, 25 of Newbury Park, has been visiting the The Valentine (know as The Val to regulars) every week for seven years and is “absolutely heartbroken” by the announcement on the pub’s Facebook account.

“I am devastated,” he said.

“The whole vibe, the atmosphere – there is no place like it.

“You could go there to chill or dance the night away till 2am in the morning – it was cheap and cheerful.”

The pub announced it closure on it’s Facebook group which has more than 2,000 member.

The post read: “We are sad to announce that as from today The Valentine is now closed.

“We are grateful for all your custom over the years, from all the Staff and Management.”

Parmveer said the news was unexpected and “no one saw it coming”.

“Literally all my friends go there and everybody is as shocked and everybody else,” he added.

“I have been inundated with messages about it, we are all saddened by the news.”

The pub has been approached for comment.
