Redbridge is the fifth least pet-friendly borough in the capital when it comes to renting a home, it has been revealed.

Only five rental properties in the borough advertised on property website Zoopla allow pets, according to data harvested by housing agent Fasthomes.

The borough is significantly less pet-friendly than neighbouring Newham, where pets were allowed in 18 properties.

But it is marginally more favourable than Barking and Dagenham, where only three properties allowed pets.

Across the country, 45per cent of households across the UK own pets according to a survey by the Pet Food Manufacturers Association (PFMA).

Dogs are the most popular pet choice at 26pc.
