A team of Redbridge students are in the finals of a London-wide competition to be crowned champion entrepreneurs.

Four students from New City College, in Balfour Road, Ilford, have submitted their bright idea to be judged as part of the Big Idea Challenge.

The team is made up of Rrezarta Ratkoceri, Fabbiha Begum, Nayab Shah and Hifza Amir.

After attending bootcamp, they devised a safety chip which can be installed in devices and activated in dangerous situations.

Rrezarta said: “We were inspired to come up with this idea in order to protect the public. We want to public to feel safe and respected and hopefully this can help decrease the number of assaults that happen on a regular basis.”

The competition winners will be announced on April 26 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

They will receive support from specialist business incubator Accelator to launch their idea.
