Two school workers were sacked after “pornographic” and personal images were found on school computers.

Redbridge Council’s records for 2010/11 that one member of staff was dismissed when explicit pictures were discovered, and another dropped for having images deemed “personal”.

The pictures had been viewed on a number of electronic devices including PCs, mobile phones and via email.

It is not known whether either former employees were teachers or had direct contact with children, and the police were not involved with either incident.

A spokesman for Redbridge Council said: “The council and its schools take their responsibilities concerning conduct of this nature very seriously and there are a number of policies and processes in place to monitor unacceptable action such as the accessing, viewing and storage of inappropriate material at work including images.”

She refused to name those involved under the Data Protection Act.

Between 2006 and 2008 two more Redbridge Council employees were sacked and one given a final written warning after similar images were found, according to human resources records released under the Freedom of Information Act.
