The National Churches Trust has accepted the Redbridge Salvation Army’s application for a £10,000 grant to fund major project work at the centre.
The donation is “one of the first” by the trust to the Salvation Army, who will use the money to build a new kitchenette, a main hall and also provide a job club and other community activities.
A trust spokesman said: “We awarded the grant just before the new year - it is up to them when they claim the money.”
The project is one of 45 being funded by the National Churches Trust.
The spokesman added: “The Salvation Army made a particularly strong case to help the community.”
