Redbridge residents are set to be “challenged daily” over the next week as part of the borough’s bid to become a London borough of culture.

The five day challenge, which has been launched by Redbridge Council this morning, are “designed to show the diversity and creativity of residents,” a spokesman said.

This afternoon, residents can learn more about the bid at a drop-in workshop outside Redbridge Town Hall, High Road, Ilford between 4pm - 7pm.

Community groups and residents can take part and upload their creations here or upload it to social media using the hashtags #ThisIsRedbridge and #ChallengeRedbridge.

The spokesman added: “With the submission deadline of December 1 approaching fast, the race is on to gather residents ideas and build a bid that will capture the judges imaginations and win the contest.”

The award will see the capital’s boroughs compete for up to £2.8million in funding spread over two years, 2019 and 2020.

In February 2018, two winning boroughs will be named the borough of culture, one taking up the title in 2019 and the other in 2020.
