Rotarians held an important event last week, when a new president was welcomed into the role.

Melvyn Warwick, succeeded Martin Gudde as president of the Redbridge Rotary Club and his first duty was to present Mr Gudde with an award for his service.

Laying out his plans for the year, Mr Warwick said he hoped the club would continue to raise money, have fun and fellowship.

A spokeswoman for the group said: “Before handing over the reins, Mr Warwick presented a number of members with awards.”

“Eve Conway, president of Rotary International in Great Britain and Northern Ireland was given a three ruby Paul Harris award.

Mike Wren, and Carrol Nathanson were presented awards for their contributions to the organisation and Sharon Nathanson won a sports Trophy.

“The club was also proud to be awarded the millennium cup by the district for the most improved sports achievements for this year.”
