Delighted pupils said their A-level success was “still sinking in” after an emotional morning at Woodbridge High School.
Chelsea Brown, 18, who achieved three A*s in maths, further maths and physics, is going to Manchester University to study physics.
Chelsea told the Recorder: “These were not the exams results I was expecting, I am so surprised.
“I put a lot of work in, but it is still sinking in. I will be celebrating tonight and going clubbing with my friends.”
Soleh Cifonelli, another student at the school in St Barnabas Road, Woodford Green, said he worked hard into the night to prepare for his A-level exams.
The 18-year-old will be going to Cambridge University to study maths.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet,” he said.
“I told my family not to tell anyone so I could absorb it. I will definitely be going out tonight.”
“I worked really hard late into the night for the A-levels, it was a marathon not a sprint.”
Headteacher Andrew Beaumont said: “We are very pleased with this year’s A-level results.
“Overall, our students in Year 13 have done well and many have gained the places they wanted at universities across the country.
“The 6th form at Woodbridge High School has an established reputation as an excellent provider over many years, and this year’s results continue to build on these excellent outcomes given the new format and increased rigour of new A-levels.”
Me Beaumont said he was particularly proud of Chelsea and Soleh, as well as Valentin Nachev who achieved two A* grades in maths and further maths and a B in economics.
Sinead Jones was another successful pupil, getting an A* grade in history and two B grades in sociology and economics.
Emilia Blyskal gained an A* grade in product Design, an A in art and a B in english literature, and Elliana Hamer achieved an A* in English literature, an A grade in history and a B grade in French.
