Redbridge primary schools have out scored the national average for achievement in core subjects yet again.

78 per cent of the borough’s schools achieved Level 4 or above in reading, writing and maths - beating the national average by three per cent.

In reading, writing and maths, 91.3 per cent of children are making their expected progress, according to statistics released on Thursday by the Department of Education.

The schools which have greatly improved on last year’s results, included Snaresbrook Primary School, in Meadow Walk, South Woodford, which shot up by 11 per cent.

87 per cent of Snaresbrook’s pupils achieved Level 4 or above in reading, writing and maths.

Ray Lodge Primary School, in Snakes Lane East, Woodford Green, bumped up its 2012 score by 10 per cent - 98 per cent of pupils are their target progress in writing.

Clore Tikva School, in Fulwell Avenue, a voluntary aided school, came third in the borough table, achieving 89 per cent.

But Redbridge Primary School, in College Gardens, topped the table this year after coming second in 2012.

Despite being the leading school in the borough it failed to improve on last year’s mark of 93 per cent.

At the other end of the spectrum Winston Way Primary School, Winston Way, Ilford, propped up the rest of the borough again.

95.1 per cent of pupils at Winston Way do not speak English as a first language.

However it made a marked improvement from 2012 by scoring 63 per cent - a jump of 12 per cent.

Farnham Green Primary School, in Royal Close, dropped two places and two per cent from its score in 2012 to finish second bottom.

Gearies Junior School, Gants Hill Crescent, suffered one of the sharpest drops in score percentage from 2012, when it topped the borough.

The percentage of the school’s pupils achieving Level 4 or above in the core subjects decreased by 13 per cent.
