Redbridge police will be offering advice about scams targetting the elderly at an awareness raising event in Wanstead.
There have been a number of scams reported in recent months which include bogus callers posing as police officers or Neighbourhood Watch members to try and steal from residents.
PCSO for Wanstead and Snaresbrook Alan Winston said: “This is a great way of meeting and reassuring our elderly residents, doing what we can to keep them safe.
“If we can stop them from becoming a victim of a bogus call and give them the confidence to report such incidents should they occur, then we have achieved our goal.”
The event will take place on April 22 at 11am at Corner House, High Street, Wanstead.
