The Mayor of Redbridge councillor Linda Huggett visited the Association of Jewish Ex Service Men and women (AJEX) Memorial yesterday as part of Armed Forces Week.

The Mayor was joined by the deputy Mayor councillor Ashley Kissin and his wife Hilary for the service at the National War Memorial Arboretum, in Burton upon Trent, which is home to nearly 400 memorials for military personnel and civilians.

Mr Kissin said: “The service was lead by Major Rabbi Livingstone a former Rabbi of the Ilford Federation Synagogue and was well attended.

“After the service AJEX provided lunch where the Mayor gave a short speech that was well received.”

AJEX is a charity with more than 4,000 members who served in the military during or after the Second World War and focuses on remembrance for the sacrifices of the past, help for those in need in the present and education for the future.
