More than 100 volunteers received awards in recognition of their dedication and commitment to working for Redbridge Jewish Community Centre.
A hundred and ten young people participating in the Mike (Motivation, Inspiration, Knowledge and Education) programme received certificates at an award ceremony at the Jewish Care-run community centre, in Woodford Bridge Road, on Wednesday, June 27.
Chigwell resident Millie West, 17, won the prestigious Saul Keene Award for excellence in youth leadership, while 16-year-old Jasmine Spurling, also from Chigwell, was presented with the volunteer of the year award.
The Mike programme, run by Jewish Care, empowers young people by teaching them leadership skills to become educators.
Jewish Care is the largest health and social care charity for the UK’s Jewish community.
The organisation provides a wide range of services for older people, people with disabilities, mental health needs, visual impairment, as well as Holocaust survivors and refugees.
