Since 2010 firefighters have been called out to 50 fires in Redbridge where alcohol is believed to have played a role in causing the blaze.
The figures from the London Fire Brigade show the most common causes were cigarettes not being put out properly, and candles or cooking being left unattended after people have fallen asleep.
Hackney topped the list of boroughs, with 177 incidents, followed by Lambeth with 128 and Southwark with 114.
London Fire Brigade director of operations, Dave Brown, said: “When people are under the influence of alcohol they are more likely to take risks, their responses become slower and they can fall asleep easily, which can be a dangerous combination if a fire starts.
