Charity members welcomed back their friends and partners from a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

More than 24 people from Redbridge Disabled Women’s Welfare Association (RDWWA) made the trip to Mecca last month.

The charity, and Mayor of Redbridge Cllr Barbara White, celebrated their return with lunch at Ruby’s Restaurant, in Ilford Lane, Ilford, on Friday.

Chairwoman Abida Iqbal said: “We have been going there for the past two years and it helps our members who are not able to go there on their own otherwise.”

She added: “It was very pleasant and 35 of our members joined for lunch.”

Mrs Iqbal said RDWWA have many more trips planned, and Cllr White is planning to join them.
