Rotary Club of Redbridge

Rotarians from across the country visited Redbridge last month when Great Britain and Ireland president John Minhinick met local rotary clubs.

More than sixty members, including London district governor Eve Conway-Ghazi, attended an event at Fiskardo Restaurant, Fairlop Waters, where Mr Minhinhick gave a talk on how the organisation could work with the local community.

The following day, the group visited The Chigwell Riding Trust, in High Road, which provides therapy for disabled children and adults through teaching them how to ride.

Founder and manager Deborah Hall MBE said: “Rotary clubs in the area, including my own which is Loughton and Buckhurst Hill, are very supportive and we could not run the school without their help and the help of the public.”

Redbridge Rotary Club has supported charities and causes including Richard House Children’s Hospice in Newham, the East London Rape Crisis Centre and international organisations like Water Aid.

But they are always looking for people in need of support.

Member Graham Carter said: “If anyone from a charity or community group needs assistance, please contact the club and we will see how we can assist.”

Redbridge Rotary is visiting supermarkets in the borough this month to help towards its Christmas appeal.

A Redbridge rambling group is holding a Festival of Winter Walks later this month.

The West Essex Ramblers are inviting new members to brave the chill to enjoy festive scenes in Redbridge, outer London and Essex.

Planned destinations include Epping Forest, Roding Valley and Regent’s Canal.

The walks will march on from December 22 through Christmas and into the new year but hazardous weather conditions could cause cancellations.
