A woman who dedicated much of her life to championing the cause for Redbridge businesses has died suddenly.
Redbridge Chamber of Commerce chairman Julie Woodward, was an indefatigable supporter of businesses, besides being highly respected and much-loved.
She died on Friday while on holiday in her native Ireland after suffering a stroke in her sleep overnight on Thursday. There will be a private cremation, with plans for a memorial service in Ilford at a later date.
Chamber colleague Linda Porter said: “Although it’s very sad, I’m sure if Julie had had a say in the matter, she would have chosen to make her exit in Ireland following a lengthy holiday.
“She helped so many people during her lifetime and I know we’ll all be talking about her for years to come.”
Recorder editor Chris Carter said: “Julie’s death is a huge loss to the Redbridge business community. I worked with her on various projects for several years and she worked tirelessly to give businesses a voice.
“She had the knack of being able to twist our arms to support any of her initiatives and I will miss her greatly.
“My thoughts are with her husband Ray and all her family.”
