Pupils at Chigwell School are celebrating after bagging an impressive set of A-level results.

Approximately 20 per cent of all their grades were A*s, 54 per cent were an A or better and 84 per cent were at least a B.

The percentage of A* to C grades was 96.

The majority of the students will now be heading to university, with others going straight into employment.

The head of school, Katie Marshall, will study medicine at Christ Church College, Oxford, after achieving three A*s and one A, while head boy Richard Stavri will begin a natural sciences course at Durham University after bagging three A*s and two As.

Other students going on to top universities include Marcin Wajs and Yitian Zhao, who will both be heading to Cambridge University after receiving four A*s and one A each.

Marcin will be studying natural sciences, while Yitian will take on chemical engineering.

Headmaster Michael Punt said: “We are really proud of the students in this year group, some of whom have studied at Chigwell for just two years whilst others have been with us for most of their lives.

“As teachers we are always delighted when the young people we have supported work hard and achieve the very best grades they can, enabling them to go on to fulfil their dreams in their lives beyond school.

“This year, as always, students leave us to follow a whole variety of paths. We wish them all every future success and happiness and hope that they will stay in touch with us.”

The school will be hosting an open day on September 27, where prospective students can find out more about the sixth form and available scholarships and bursaries.
