The lifelong dream of royalists to capture a selfie with Her Majesty can come true as part of celebrations for her 90th birthday today.

Redbridge Council is inviting people to have their picture taken with a life-size image of the Queen on Saturday.

The image will be available from 11am-1pm at Redbridge Central Library, Clements Road, Ilford; 11am-3pm at the children’s library in Fullwell Cross Library, 140 High Street, Barkingside and 1pm-3pm in Catwalk Pets, 159 High Street, Barkingside.

Also on that day youngsters can make their own crowns to mark the milestone at Redbridge Central Library from 1pm-3pm and 1pm-3pm at Fullwell Cross Library.

Next week’s Recorder will include a 16-page special souvenir supplement to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.
