The Queen was joined in Barkingside yesterday by the Duchess of Cornwall as well as celebrities including singer Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud.
She was whisked into the charity’s new headquarters on arrival to meet workers and the children they help.
But families and fans who had waited for hours in the cold were rewarded at the end of her visit when she talked to well-wishers and accepted flowers and gifts.
