Prince Charming, the Wicked Stepmother and Snow White – these are all characters seared into our consciousness thanks to fairytales.

And now, with the return of a popular family show, it is up to you to track them down and collect their stories.

Theatre company Teatro Vivo is once more staging Fairytale Finders outside Valentines Mansion, in Emerson Road, Ilford.

The show tasks participants with hunting down their favourite characters for the Brothers Grimm, returning with tales of their adventures.

Founder and directer Sophie Austin, 32, said: “We came up with the idea while looking at how the Brothers Grimm collected their stories.

“Often people think they wrote all these themselves, but they didn’t – they went out and collected these stories we know and love, sending out others to look as well.

“In the show you come across some very dark and disturbing stories and need to find one with a happy ending.”

Teatro Vivo, celebrating its 10th anniversary, was asked to return to Valentines Park by Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure.

Sophie said: “It is such a beautiful setting, with the lake and amazing gardens. We have a brilliant collaboration with Vision Redbridge.

“Everyone gets a lot out of the show and the children love it, they get properly involved.”

At the heart of Teatro Vivo is its aim of bringing the arts into communities through interactive productions of much-loved stories, such as Alice in Wonderland.

Sophie said: “10 years feels like a real achievement. We want to keep doing what we do.”

Fairy-tale Finders will run at 3pm and 7pm today.
