Snaresbrook councillor Sue Nolan has resigned as Redbridge Council’s cabinet member for the environment and transportation.
Cllr Nolan tendered her resignation for personal reasons yesterday, she told the Recorder.
She said: “It’s personal reasons and it’s to spend more time with my family.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to make.
“It was the one I needed to make at this moment in time.”
Cllr Alex Wilson, a fellow Conservative councillor on Wanstead ward, will replace her and Cllr Nolan gave her congratulations to her area one committee colleague.
She said: “I wish him the best.”
She has been a councillor since 1998 and has held five cabinet positions including education, adult social services, leisure and resources in addition to her most recent role.
She will continue as a Snaresbrook councillor.
She said: “To be truthful, being a local councillor has always been the priority.
“It’s important to be a cabinet member and I’m lucky to have held many positions.
“I enjoyed all of them.”
