How should Redbridge commemorate First World War’s 100th anniversary? Councillors want your ideas
PUBLISHED: 08:00 22 October 2013
Naming roads after soldiers who received the Victoria Cross and planting poppies in our parks are two of the ideas for commemorating the 100 year anniversary of the First World War.
Up to £50,000 has been approved for ways to mark the centenary in 2014 and ideas are being called for.
So far recommendations include getting local groups involved, having an event at the Ilford War Memorial, Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park, and another outside the town hall in High Road, Ilford.
At the cabinet meeting at Redbridge Town Hall, High Road, Ilford on Thursday, it was agreed that money would also be given for a series of talks.
Send your ideas to Cllr Hugh Cleaver (Liberal Democrat, Church End) who is leading the First World War Centenary Panel at email@example.com.
